Stop Stressing Out

If you find that you’re stressing out over your acne problems, the best advice is to stop. Stressing about acne (or anything for that matter) is only going to cause more acne breakouts. Stressing out can contribute to more acne in a variety of ways – you may stop exercising, start touching your face in a nervous fashion, or fail to keep up with proper personal hygiene. Diet may also play a role in determining the severity of acne breakouts.

When you become stressed out, your body starts producing hormones that increase the amount of oil on your skin. This oil is called Sebum. Pimples are caused when a combination of sebum and dead skin cells get blocked at the skin’s surface (by makeup, dirt, etc).

If you are stressing out over something, remember that your skin pays a major price. Take a few hours to collect your thoughts, relax, and give your skin a break.

Stop Wearing Tight Clothing

During workouts, avoid wearing tight clothing. Acne can break out anywhere on our bodies, and is most common in places where there is a lot of friction and heat. This type of acne is called acne mechanica. For example, avoid wearing headbands or wristbands when you are working out. If you find that your back is prone to acne breakouts, wear loose fitting shirts.

Exercise Is Great For Your Skin

Getting regular exercise is critical in having healthy looking skin. If you exercise for half an hour, about four times a week, you’ll start seeing tighter, better looking skin and less acne. Working out helps balance your hormone levels, which reduces the amount of acne that is produced on your face.

Stress is another big cause of acne. Stress reducing workouts (such as pilates), can help prevent acne breakouts. Pairing consistent exercise and stress reducing workouts will help you achieve the great skin you dream of. Remember to wash your face after workouts.
